YANA performs “Tender” from her album „Daydreamer” in Ólafur Arnalds’ studio in Reykjavík

YANA and her accompanying musicians present a live session filmed in the spectacular space of the palace on the island, which is part of the Royal Lazienki Museum complex in Warsaw. The music performed comes from YANA’s latest full-length album Daydreamer released by OPIA Community.

In the video for the song Tender we wanted to show that in every place and at every moment of life it is worth looking for gentleness and tenderness. Even in the most seemingly unfriendly, harsh, or even dangerous place you can and should look for something good. In times when so many tragedies are happening, and human life is often put to the hardest tests, we want to show all the more that beauty and goodness still have their place in the world and that they can prevail.

The vast and raw coal heaps stretching to the horizon served as a perfect space reflecting the spirit of the song Tender. Shot by Marianna Korman in Silesia, Poland.

„Spring” mirrors the rejuvenation that follows a long struggle, with ethereal strings and rhythmic textures painting a picture of renewal and hope. The idea for the video was to present this transition metaphorically. Inspired by Ingmar Bergman’s movies, especially „Wild Strawberries”, it reflects the energy that appears in the body and mind after a long period of recovery and the mystery behind this process. Shot by Marianna Korman in Sudety Mountains.

All Alone (OPIA Version) from the very first OPIA Community compilation. Shot on 16mm by Maciej Milewski.

Live session recorded at Sonar Record Store in Gdańsk as part of the Sonar REC Session. The set included three brand new tracks from artist’s upcoming second album and two songs that appeared on her debut release ‚Solace’.

Berlin-based artist collective Magnificent Matter invites YANA & Maria Szagżdowicz. The visuals have been created live – in the very moment with Magnificent Matter’s microscope! This showcase back then was a milestone which unfolded in all of its beauty up till now. Thanks to the trust and drive of Jose Alarcon to move mountains, StageLight Berlin production company built this incredible high end production for the album release of Robot Koch’s „The next billion years“ with Monom Studios and the support of Rebeam Projectors at Monopol Berlin!

„June” explores the idea that to be fully present, you must let go, get lost, and surrender first. It celebrates our vulnerability, praises the beauty of fleeting moments, nostalgia, and finding inner peace and acceptance despite our failures, fears, burn-outs, and sorrows. Delicate, almost improvised piano song, together with visuals, illustrate the undefined longing for both the unknown journeys and familiar places we would like to find ourselves in. The delicate, almost improvised melody, woven by the subtle sound of the piano, meets the artistic vision of the video as the intimacy of the feelings is noticeable both in the musical and visual layer.

„To be lost is to be fully present, and to be fully present is to be capable of being in uncertainty and mystery. And one does not get lost but loses oneself, with the implication that it is a conscious choice, a chosen surrender, a psychic state achievable through geography.”

The video was created on Fuerteventura, in January 2021 by two great artists – director Magdalena Zielińska and cinematographer Mateusz Kanownik, with the participation of actress Joanna Niemirska.

A video for „Floating” is an unusual visualization created with a microscope by the Berlin-based collective Magnificent Matter.

Video for „Solace” is a live performance, recorded with the master shot technique in the industrial space of Gdańsk. The artist decided to present the piece in two versions: an album version with strings is available on streaming services. In addition to it, there is also a live version of the song available on YouTube, recorded only with the participation of a piano, in a slightly changed form.
